Camping on Denmark’s North Sea Coast: Rømø, Henne and Skagen
Three campsites trace a coastal route from Rømø’s tidal flats through Henne’s dune woods to the moving sands near Skagen.

In this article
Travelling north from Rømø through Henne to Skagen, the landscape shifts from tidal flats and dune heath to wooded dunes and then the moving sands of Råbjerg Mile. Each campsite sits beside a different stretch of this long coast, so dividing the journey into stages gives you time to explore each setting.
Rømø: tidal flats, beach and dune heath
Rømø Familie Camping stands at Vestervej 13 amid protected natural surroundings. On this sandy island, dry dune heath gives way to damp hollows, lakes, marshes and reclaimed marshland, while the west opens onto a broad strand. Marked trails climb Høstbjerg, Spidsbjerg and Stagebjerg, old dunes around 19 metres high with views across the island.
