Ancient Olympia (Greek: Αρχαία Ολυμπία) is the birthplace of the Olympic Games and one of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece. Located in the Peloponnese region in the prefecture of Ilia, this ancient sanctuary was dedicated to Zeus and served as the venue for the quadrennial athletic competitions from 776 BCE to 393 CE.
