The Erechtheion (also Erechtheum) is an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis in Athens. Built between 421 and 406 BC from Pentelic marble, it was dedicated to Athena and Poseidon and is attributed to the architect Mnesicles, with sculptures by Phidias under the patronage of Pericles.
