The Nationaltheater at Max-Joseph-Platz in Munich is the venue for the Bavarian State Opera, the Bavarian State Orchestra, and the Bavarian State Ballet. The neoclassical opera house was built between 1811 and 1818 by King Max Joseph of Bavaria according to designs by Karl von Fischer, originally called the Royal Court and National Theatre.
