Gripsholm Castle (Gripsholms slott) is a 16th-century royal castle built by King Gustav Vasa, located in Strängnäs Municipality near Mariefred. The castle houses 500 years of Swedish history, including the National Portrait Collection and one of Europe’s best-preserved 18th-century theatres, the theatre of Gustav III.
