The National Archaeological Museum of Cividale del Friuli, founded in 1817 by Count Michele Della Torre di Valsassina, documents the history of the former Forum Iulii (modern Cividale del Friuli) with artifacts spanning from the Roman municipal period to the Venetian domination. Since 1990, it has been housed in the Palazzo dei Provveditori Veneti, a 16th-century building attributed to Andrea Palladio, constructed between 1565 and 1615.
